Description:

OVERVIEW

Dillon is a well established, employee-owned professional consulting firm operating across Canada and internationally. We provide a wide range of consulting and design services related to the infrastructure, real estate, resource, industrial and government sectors in Canada and abroad. We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Structural Engineer in our Calgary office.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree in civil engineering
  • Licensed to practice as a professional engineer in Alberta, or eligible to be licensed within six months
  • A minimum of 6 years relevant structural design experience

EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated success in the leadership of multidisciplinary project teams and the management of structural engineering projects
  • Experience in the structural design of transportation structures
  • Knowledge of relevant structural engineering codes and standards
  • Familiarity with structural analysis and design software such as STAAD or PCA software, as well as proficiency in current AutoCAD and building systems software is desirable
  • Strong interpersonal, communications, organization and time management skills
  • Experience in construction contract administration would be an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Structural design and analysis of industrial, commercial and institutional buildings, liquid-retaining structures, bridges and transportation facilities
  • Management of single and multi-discipline structural engineering projects and development of cost-effective design solutions
  • Preparation of proposals, design criteria, preliminary designs, detailed engineering specifications, and reports
  • Technical guidance and mentoring of project team members including other engineers, scientists and technical support staff
  • Liaison with clients, government and regulatory authorities, and contractors
  • Development and enhancement of client relationships and business growth
