The Project Engineer – Residential will primarily focus on structural design and analysis with a residential project focus. This role will include aspects of project delivery management, production of structural documents, and construction administration. The Project Engineer will ensure all work is carried out in full support of our Vision, Mission, Values and One Company culture.

Execution of structural projects and act as Project Engineer within the realm of residential projects from conceptual design to final completion:

  • Responsible for the designing and detailing of structural elements including design and calculations, computer modelling, and analysis with emphasis on residential projects.
  • Works to assemble and coordinate engineering drawings and contract documents in collaboration with our BIM technologists and other members of the engineering team.
  • Answer contractor RFI’s and oversee contract administration.
  • Pursue project growth opportunities by:

    • Attracting new clients through business development initiatives: grow the business and win work
  • Attend client meetings, events, and business development opportunities to grow your network
  • With the guidance of the Entuitive business development, marketing and proposal teams, research and respond to proposal requests from clients
  • Be responsible for the financial performance of projects including monitoring of internal project costs and review of monthly invoicing ensuring budgets are maintained
  • Drafts project-related correspondence as needed.
  • Participates in client meetings facilitating solutions to design issues and challenges and providing status updates.
  • Conducts review of the architectural, electrical, mechanical, and structural drawings.
  • Mentors junior staff with design and delivery elements of a project to ensure standards are upheld.
  • Such other duties and responsibilities as Entuitive may assign to you from time to time.
  • Manage projects and clients from conceptual design to final completion
  • Deliver projects ensuring profitably with a high quality of deliverables.
  • Create and monitor project budgets

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in civil / structural engineering
  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive experience relevant to the role, with a minimum of 3+ years in a project engineering capacity for residential projects
  • P.Eng. registered in the province you are hired
  • Experience in business development and writing proposals
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work with people at all levels including project stakeholders and clients
  • An entrepreneurial spirit willing to make something their own
  • Advanced concrete design skills, including high-rise buildings design experience
  • Ability to work independently
  • Have a working knowledge on current Building Codes, By-Laws and building material codes.
  • Strong project management capability with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and on budget.
  • Must have a working knowledge and ability to use programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word and Excel and structural analysis software (SAFE, ETABS, S-Concrete, etc.).
  • Seismic design experience is considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to work with people at all levels including project stakeholders and clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and deliverables on an ongoing basis.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to manage scope, schedule and budget
  • Mass timber experience would be a asset
