STRUCTURAL ENGINEER
Higher Ground Consulting (HGC) is seeking a Structural Engineer with 6+ years experience to join our Calgary Engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for all phases of structural project lifecycles, from initiation and design through to construction. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, engaging in various structural and civil projects while collaborating with other Sr. Structural Engineers and providing training and mentoring to EIT’s and Junior personnel. This position may require intermittent travel for durations of 1-2 weeks to oversee and execute civil and structural engineering projects.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
· A post-secondary degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
· Registration as, or immediate ability to register, as a P.Eng with APEGA.
· Basic understanding of structural and foundation analysis/design.
· Related experience in civil/structural projects design and construction.
· Accountable for work and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
· Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
· Must have a valid driver’s licence.
· Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
· Flexible and open to changing priorities and multi-tasking.
· Creative, strategic, forward-thinking mindset.
· Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities:
· Structural design/analysis of steel and concrete structures.
· Foundation design/analysis for various projects throughout Western Canada and US.
· Develop calculations and drawings for various projects throughout Western Canada and US.
· Fit and willing to complete site visits as required, mostly in Western Canada and US.
· Preparing technical reports following inspections, technical analysis, modelling, and design calculations.
· Providing feedback, input and advice to designers and drafters regarding structural aspects of drawing packages and designs.
· Preparing Fit-for-purpose designs that meet technical regulatory, environmental, safety, operating and maintenance requirements.
· Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including geotechnical, civil, and environmental engineers and scientists.
· Preparing proposals, bid and contract documentation.
· Composition of construction work packages.
