CLP Engineering (CLPE) is seeking a skilled Structural Engineer to join our corporate engineering team. If you’re looking to leverage your structural engineering experience with a Leader in the utility industry, this is the place for you!
Our Structural Engineers support infrastructure projects: substations, transmission lines, and distribution systems for our clients across the country.
CLPE is a full-service electric utility solutions engineering firm with more than twenty years’ experience in electrical utility system ownership, upgrades, maintenance and operations through our sister company, City Light & Power. CLPE offers a wide range of power system engineering services to investor-owned, municipal, cooperative, government, industrial, and commercial customers.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
  • MS degree in structural engineering a plus.
  • Five to seven (5-7) years of civil/structural engineering work experience required; focus on power systems infrastructure projects preferred.
  • Strong technical expertise, project management experience, and regulatory compliance knowledge to ensure safe and reliable operation of power systems infrastructure.
  • Technical proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other design software.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards related to power systems infrastructure design, construction, and maintenance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • General knowledge of electrical engineering principles and experience working with power systems infrastructure preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed project plans, designs, and cost estimates for power systems infrastructure projects.
  • Analyze project requirements and technical specifications. Review design and construction plans and provide recommendations to improve project feasibility, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources, and ensure timely completion of projects within budget and on schedule.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and quality control checks to ensure that projects meet design and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that all documentation and reports are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, planners, and stakeholders to identify and evaluate potential project risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Coordinate with other departments, project teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure project compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies, materials, and methods in the power systems infrastructure field. Make recommendations on new approaches to improve project outcomes.
