With the team expanding, this Structural Engineer role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to a diverse range of projects while working within a highly skilled and motivated team.
As part of a multi-disciplinary design team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality structural solutions that meet project requirements. You will also support the development of junior engineers and actively contribute to the efficient execution of projects.
You will gain exposure to multiple sectors, working on varied and complex projects that offer a dynamic and rewarding career experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, supporting progression towards Chartered Membership of the ICE or IStructE or Bachelor’s degree with a clear development plan to achieve chartership or similar.
  • Actively working towards professional accreditation.
  • Eligible for security clearance and airside pass applications.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Experience in one or more of the following sectors: Water, Life Sciences, Industrial, Highways, Defence, Nuclear, Aviation, Rail, Power, or the Public Sector.
  • Strong foundation in civil and structural engineering principles.
  • Solid understanding of structural behaviour and analysis.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and innovative thinking.
  • Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
  • Proficiency in relevant design codes and standards.
  • Familiarity with traditional structural materials, including steel, timber, concrete, and reinforced concrete.
  • Awareness of CDM regulations and health & safety legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage own workload reporting to and supporting project lead
Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce detailed structural designs and calculations in accordance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to develop safe, efficient, and constructible solutions.
  • Provide technical support and mentorship to trainees and graduate engineers.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
  • Ensure high-quality design outputs, maintaining thorough documentation.
  • Represent BakerHicks in client and project meetings as required.
