The position is based in Portland, OR or Seattle, WA but will consider remote or hybrid arrangements depending on experience.
Tetra Tech is currently seeking a full-time Structural Engineer with 6+ years of experience to lead challenging projects of various construction types in a wide range of industry sectors. Projects, managed by the Pacific Northwest Water and Wastewater Group as well as the Fisheries Group, will vary from local and regional work to overseas, providing unique engineering experiences. Typical water and wastewater projects may include water and wastewater treatment plants, headworks facilities, pump stations, and support structures such as administration and storage buildings. Typical fisheries projects may include conservation and enhancement hatcheries, research facilities, acclimation facilities, fish passage, fish collection and sorting, and aquaculture related infrastructure
The successful candidate will work with Tetra Tech team members in a flexible environment, in the delivery of company project initiatives, and will follow through during onsite visits.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering (Master’s preferred)
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) or ability to obtain within 6 months, Structural Engineering (S.E.) preferred
- 6+ years of related experience as a Structural Engineer
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Knowledgeable in the design of structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, aluminum, and wood.
- Experience with designing structures located in geographical areas prone to high seismicity is preferred.
- Experience providing structural design for fisheries or other environmental related projects is highly preferred
- Revit experience preferred
- Proficient with structural engineering design software such as RISA 3D
- Capable of working in a fast-paced environment on projects ranging from studies to detailed design.
WA Salary Range: $98,000 - $140,000 DOE
Responsibilities:
- Deliver quality projects on time and within budget
- Collaborate with a team of Structural Engineers and Designers for larger projects or work independently to successfully complete smaller projects
- Be involved in structural design of projects in all phases, from conceptual design to construction administration
- Interface with clients throughout the design and construction process
- Support junior Engineers
- Prepare and check design calculations of structural systems
- Write forensic and investigation reports
- Collaborate within a project team to fulfill engineering and drafting responsibilities.
- Design to local and state building codes
- Utilize advanced structural engineering software tools (RISA software experience preferred)
- Participate in Construction Administration activities when required by the project
