JOB SUMMARY:
The Structural Project Engineer will assist teams with the planning and daily execution of the construction project. The Project Engineer is the link between office management, field activities, accounting, and project administration. The position is involved in pre-construction, estimating, material sourcing and procurement. The position will assist in the management of submittal processes, coordinating the timely delivery of materials, maintaining logs, schedules, budgets, and overall to facilitate a well-managed project, while maintaining project safety initiatives and the coordination of timely required materials delivery. Must be a flexible and adaptable team-player, while being easygoing and possessing strong communication, task management and client service skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- PE Certification (will not be responsible for stamping plans).
- Bachelor’s degree in structural engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Preferred prior experience in the construction industry is desired; multifamily construction projects.
- Minimum 5 plus years concrete and structural steel design experience
- Field inspection experience,
- Proficient with technologies and applications used in business and on construction sites, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Projects, SharePoint, & Outlook), and other current software including AutoDesk (AutoCAD, ProEst, Takeoff, Assemble, BIM360), Primavera, Green Halo, Egnyte, Blue Beam, Procore, etc.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction required or have the ability to obtain.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Must be willing to participate in the Company’s pre-employment screening process, including drug screen and background investigation.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to utilize our Clients Construction application on a smart phone, tablet or laptop.
- Must be experienced and able to read, understand and interpret construction documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, estimating, and project schedules for constructability and conflict reviews specific to Multifamily construction.
- Strong working knowledge of the local multifamily and residential construction industry and subcontractors.
- Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needs.
- Understanding building permit, approval and inspection processes.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent communication and partnering skills to work effectively with subcontractors, consultants, internal staff, and regulatory agencies.
- Working Knowledge of OSHA regulations and accepted Safe Work practices for the Construction Industry.
- Understanding of construction equipment, including safe operating practices and signs of maintenance issues is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to stand and walk project site for extended period of times.
- Regularly sit, talk and/or hear for extended periods of time.
- Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel.
- Occasionally required to but not limited to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
- Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
- Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 50 pounds regularly/occasionally
- Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.
- Must be able to see and respond to dangerous situations.
- Must be able to safely climb ladders.
- Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
- May be required to work in hot and cold environments and on concrete floors.
