Description
Conducts structural related engineering investigations, calculations, and planning work which has a well-defined scope. Research feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions and regulatory agency specifications. Works toward development of calculations, plans, specifications, requests for proposals, and other contract documents. Works directly with a variety of engineering disciplines, office / project staff, client and sub-contractors, throughout the project life cycle, and therefore should have clear and concise, oral and written communication skills. Will exercise their own judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives. Will function as Design Lead, Task Manager or Project Engineer on projects to manage related budgets and schedules, lead deliverables, and leads with the development and management of plans, permit checklists, scopes of work and will facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of projects. Some travel may be required for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, general planning purposes or to oversee construction activities, depending on project staffing needs. Mentor entry-level and junior structural engineering staff. 8 years of relevant experience. Bachelor's degree in related discipline. Professional Engineer (PE) registration. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing flood walls, flood gates, retaining wall structures, and deep foundations, coupled with experience working on Federal resiliency projects. A Master's degree in Structural Engineering from a reputable institution is a plus, along with progressive experience in structural engineering, particularly focusing on infrastructure projects related to water management, flood control, and seismic resilience. Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as STAAD, MathCAD, AutoCAD, and Revit is also helpful for this role.
