MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent certification.
  • Additional Qualifications:
  • Safety certification (e.g., IOSH) – preferred
  • PMP training – advantageous
  • AutoCAD and STAAD proficiency
  • Knowledge of structural detailing and engineering codes

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the events and exhibitions industry.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Fluent in English (verbal and written).
  • Strong report writing and documentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and internet research.
  • Knowledge of EBMS (Event Business Management System) – advantageous.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and structural specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

The Junior Structural Engineer will be responsible for reviewing exhibition stand designs from a structural perspective, ensuring compliance with the client’s health & safety guidelines, international standards, and the international code of practice for steel design and construction. The role also involves conducting onsite inspections to verify the safety, stability, and quality of structures.
Additionally, the candidate will support the Senior Structural Engineer and Health & Safety Team by reporting operational activities and ensuring that all stand-building practices adhere to safety regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review and evaluate exhibition stand designs for structural integrity and compliance with safety standards.
  • Conduct onsite inspections to assess the quality, safety, and stability of structures.
  • Ensure all designs and builds comply with the client’s guidelines and international codes of practice.
  • Collaborate with the Health & Safety team to monitor and enforce safe work practices.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation related to inspections and design reviews.
  • Support project managers, designers, and contractors to resolve structural concerns.
