2020 Recruitment are working with a long-established and respected engineering firm who are looking to add an experienced Structural Steel Estimator to their team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong fabrication background and a sharp eye for detail to join a company that values quality, reliability, and professionalism. The role will be predominantly office-based but may involve site visits across Scotland.

REQUIREMENTS

To be considered for this role, you must have the following:

  • A fabrication background (light/medium essential; heavy fabrication is a bonus)
  • Experience with welding and full assembly fabrication
  • Strong knowledge of shop floor processes in engineering environments
  • Ability to carry out material take-offs from drawings
  • Experience in pricing site installations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Excellent communication skills for client and team collaboration
  • Driving licence (desirable, as site visits are part of the role)
Responsibilities

THE ROLE

As the Structural Steel Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately pricing fabrication and welding projects, ranging from material take-offs and full assemblies to site installations. You’ll be liaising with internal teams and clients to ensure each estimate is delivered with accuracy and confidence.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing and interpreting technical drawings and project specs
  • Preparing material take-offs and costing of proprietary items
  • Creating tender returns and offer letters using company templates
  • Pricing site installation works, factoring in all relevant costs
  • Attending site visits to assess project scope
  • Liaising with clients and internal teams to clarify requirements
  • Maintaining up-to-date pricing files and documentation
  • Supporting project teams with cost data and insights
