Overview:
Are you a Grounds Worker or Labourer looking at a career change and have a fixed site for work?
Element has an opportunity for a Structural Steelwork Assistant to join our growing team based at our new testing facility in Warrington. This is a great opportunity to develop your career within a Global Testing, Inspection and Certification business.

Responsibilities:

  • Achieving and maintaining high standards of health and safety, including contractor inductions
  • Principle responsibilities for Handling and Preparation of Test Specimens
  • Maintaining and managing stock of steel sections on site, including ordering and marking up
  • Verification of incoming steel samples to ensure compliance with Hp / A and section size tolerances
  • Supervise and co-ordinate with Shot-blasting contractor
  • Liaise with fabricating contractors to ensure specimen preparation is timely and prioritized
  • Supervise and co-ordinate with clients when on site
  • Liaising with and assisting the client, including contractors and third parties, during application of paint to test specimens
  • Liaise and assist Technical Assistants
  • Manage paint storage and disposal with designated waste contractor
  • Instrumentation of test specimens and preparation in line with standards
  • Completion of internal systems using FIREMAN and any associated procedures
  • Assisting with preparation of samples

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Ideally experienced or knowledge of working to Standard Operating Procedures within strict H&S guidelines
  • Practical skills for using tools within a construction / engineering / shop fitting environment, desired but not essential (training will be provided)
  • Interest in materials testing
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written
  • Proactive, logical and methodical
  • Attention to detail
  • Possess a valid FLT license desired but not essential (training will be provided)
