Description
Responsible for body structures, frame and battery tray virtual signoff prior to kicking off physical builds Responsible for signing off closure of durability issues for body structures, frame and battery tray Support field warranty analysis to lead feedback into durability Design Verification (DV) prevent reoccurrence Engage in Structures Architecture design process to ensure lessons learned are driven into advanced vehicle design Engage with Road Load team to ensure design loads are available to Structures team Work with program Vehicle Evaluation Verification VEV / Durability / Product Development organizations to select minimum feature configurations for vehicle & system durability DV testing Engage with Durability Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) to drive updates to fatigue relevant material libraries Interface with CAE engineers & commodity Technical Specialists to improve 1st pass DV through virtual design methods improvement Analyze designs during the development process & address any potential failures & error state Guide & oversee training, mentoring & provide consulting to department engineers, supervisors & other interfacing functions Share & present work to cross-functional teams and executive leadership Champion Structures Durability Tech Club meeting cadence and content Established and active employee resource groups Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field 10+ years of experience in structural components 10+ years of experience with CAE correlation to physical testing 10+ years of experience with solving durability issues 10+ years of experience with structural system verification, quality, manufacturing, and assembly methods. 10+ years of experience in body sheet metal, HSLA steels, cast materials, mix metal architecture, metal joining 8+ years of experience with welding and joining methods, 8+ years of experience teaching/coaching/mentoring and documenting technical knowledge. 8+ years of experience demonstrating high level of communication skills and teamwork. 5+ years of experience using statistical validation tools - usage of Weibul plots Master's degree in mechanical engineering. Black Belt Six-Sigma Certification 15+ years of experience in structural systems Experience in Supplier Technical Assistance Strong understanding of statistical analysis & failure mode avoidance. Experience correlating CAE to physical testing Expert knowledge in utilizing 8D, 3x5 why and other tools to facilitate clear and concise communication of complex technical issues.
