We are looking for an Assistant Structures Engineer to join our team in Ipswich, Suffolk. This position is pivotal in delivering solutions and services for our clients throughout Southern England which currently includes providing support to our Local Authority contracts in Suffolk, Oxfordshire, Peterborough, Hampshire and Cambridgeshire. Working in the structures team you will have an opportunity to work on a variety of highway structure projects from inspection and scheme identification through to design and construction. In particular we are working very closely with our recently won, long term Suffolk County Council contract, to deliver an interesting and challenging forward programme of bridge and highway improvement schemes. Excellent opportunities are available for training towards ICE or other professional memberships.
Our office is located in a pleasant rural location on the outskirts of Ipswich with ample parking and provides a multidiscipline service across Milestone for Asset Management, Highways and Structures design.

As the Structures Assistant Engineer your duties & responsibilities will be:

  • Undertake designs (new builds & maintenance) and produce design packages for construction
  • Produce technical reports and other technical output to achieve project outcomes
  • Undertake site visits, bridge surveys and investigations
  • Undertake structure General, Principal and Safety inspections
  • Utilise relevant structures design software to assist in the development of solutions
  • Ensure work is undertaken in compliance with QSE standards and processes.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Relevant degree in Civil Engineering
  • Design and construction experience within the highway sector
  • Knowledge of analytical software and its application to bridges & highway structures
  • Knowledge of Highways England standards including DMRB & MCDHW and design using Eurocodes
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety & Environment in design and construction
  • Computer literate with Design software and Microsoft packages
  • Effective communicator, both written and verbally, ability to organise and prioritise
  • UK/EEC driving licence
