We are currently recruiting for an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) Structures Lead to join our HeavyAero team in Calgary, Alberta.
Reporting to the Production Manager, the AME Structures Lead is responsible for providing mentorship and guidance to the team responsible for the repair and certification of aircraft structures in accordance with the policy and procedures defined in both the HeavyAero Maintenance Policy Manual (MPM), the applicable Structures Manual.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-Secondary education in recognized Aircraft Maintenance/Structures Engineer Program
  • Valid Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer ‘S’ License required
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience working as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer in Structures
  • Previous experience as a team lead or supervisor considered an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) and familiarity with ERP systems
  • Positive ‘can-do’ attitude as well as proven expertise in performing Structures maintenance and repairs in accordance with their training, regulatory requirements and company procedures
  • Knowledge of structures materials and parts with a strong understanding of the regulations governing their acceptance for certified aircraft and the process of quarantine action.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving items weighing up to 50 pounds

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a valid work permit
  • Must be capable of holding a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC)
Responsibilities
  • Actively participate in the HeavyAero Safety Management System and Quality Assurance programs
  • Lead and mentor junior team members, including planning and organizing works tasks
  • Review work scope, estimate materials and labour, submit requests for materials to stores
  • Perform all structures related maintenance on aircraft
  • Restore or repair defects using unique aircraft fastening hardware, ferrous and non-ferrous materials, composite materials, chemicals, adhesives, paints and textiles
  • Conduct corrosion control inspections of ferrous and non-ferrous materials
  • Interpret aircraft drawings
  • Conduct assessment of structural damage to determine required repair
  • Sealing preparation, selection, mixture and application tasks
  • Removal, disassembly, reassembly and installation of components and parts to gain access to a sheet metal repair
  • Perform sheet metal structures & fabrication tasks
  • Fabricate and repair aircraft structures using composite, fibreglass, textiles, leather, plastic and synthetic components
  • Ensure timely and accurate Technical Record entries are completed as required
  • Identify defects and ensure Service Difficulty Reports are submitted for structures in accordance with the regulatory requirements
  • Ensure all applicable equipment is properly maintained and facilities are clean, safe and appropriately equipped
  • Provide mentorship and supervision of non-licensed personnel ensuring that critical knowledge and workmanship is transferred to them
  • Lead by example and be a positive role model for others to follow
  • Perform other related activities, as necessary or as assigned by management
  • Respect and uphold all the Company policies, procedures & performance expectations
