Responsibilities

YOUR FUTURE ROLE

As a Structures Engineer you’ll be supporting the Services Engineering business covering trains already in passenger service. Scope will include assessment of damage to confirm fitness to remain in service e.g. crash damage or corrosion damage, and proposal of suitable repair processes with supporting assessments. Additionally supporting any validation requirements for changes or addition of equipment on to vehicles as part of reliability improvements and modernisation projects.

We’ll look to you for:

  • To take ownership of work packages to deliver a technical solution with all supporting documentation. Work will range from small technical queries relating to parts overhaul up to full ownership of a work package on a major fleet modernisation.
  • The main tools and methodologies you will be required to work with are Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using Altair Hyperworks, Excel, Word as well as Alstom Proprietary assessment tools, Parts Databases and 3D/2D CAD viewers.
  • Assessments made will be undertaken by FEA and/or manual calculations as well as via condition assessments.
  • Primary outputs are Assessment reports, Repair Processes, Customer reports, Risk Assessments and Standards checks.

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:
