Responsibilities

WHAT DOES THE ROLE INVOLVE?

As our Team Lead you will lead and manage the Mission Critical Structures team which is based in our London office, ensuring that targets are being met in terms of financial results, clients, projects and people. You will develop the team and generate business by looking for leads/opportunities to maximise profit whilst supporting the wider business unit and business.

YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Budget setting and delivery of key budget metrics with early warning of any variances.
  • Compliance of the team to record projects, profit & loss within the agreed processes.
  • Financial results of the team.
  • Mitigating risks and systematically reviewing those risks to protect the profit margins for the team.
  • Active marketing of the services provided by the team and Sweco’s wider teams to generate business opportunities/identify potential sales capitalising on those opportunities for maximum effect and profit.
  • Building client relationships for ongoing projects with reference to ‘Sweco Tell Us’ as projects near completion.
  • Working together with other Team Managers and Technical Directors to sell/share clients and opportunities across discipline’s, regions and specialisms where appropriate.
  • Developing greater competence, by developing, coaching and encouraging cross coordination with the team and between teams inside the unit.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU’LL:

  • Have an appropriate degree in structural engineering along with a professional qualification such as chartership - CEng MIStructE.
  • Be able to offer technical leadership and support to project requirements.
  • Have suitable project leader experience within Structural Engineering.
  • Act as an example to your team by demonstrating the core Sweco Behaviours.
  • Have client facing experience as well as liaison with project delivery teams.
  • Have significant experience working as a Structural Engineer with a proven track record of delivery on fast pass projects.
  • Have a good understanding of client projects and of the Mission Critical Sector with Data Centre or film studio structural design experience.
  • Be able to influence strategic decision making within the business and have an ability to make commercial decisions within defined parameters.
  • Possess strong communication and collaborative skills.
