Job Title: Student Achievement Assistant

Location: Bromley, London

Working Pattern: Full-Time, Term Time Only

Salary: [£33572 - £44027] (Spine Point 24 to 26)

The Opportunity

We are partnering with a thriving Further Education provider in Bromley to recruit a proactive and dedicated Student Achievement Tutor on a term-time-only basis. In this pivotal role, you will empower 16-19-year-olds to overcome barriers to learning, build key life skills, and successfully progress into higher education, apprenticeships, or employment. Serving as the key link between academic delivery and pastoral support, you will play a transformative role in guiding students toward their full potential.

About the Setting

The college offers a modern learning environment focused on high educational standards and student welfare. Working within a collaborative pastoral team, you will liaise closely with curriculum leaders, safeguarding officers, and external agencies to ensure every student receives structured encouragement, interventions, and progression guidance.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging weekly group tutorials covering safeguarding, pastoral care, social action, study skills, and career readiness.
  • Manage a caseload averaging 15 tutorial groups (approximately 300 students in total).
  • Conduct structured 1-to-1 mentoring sessions to set SMART targets and monitor student progress.
  • Lead attendance and behaviour interventions alongside curriculum teams, contacting parents/carers and external agencies when required.
  • Support vulnerable student cohorts, acting as the first point of contact for pastoral concerns and referring to internal wellbeing/safeguarding teams as needed.
  • Track student completion of work experience, Gatsby benchmark activities, UCAS personal statements, and stretch-and-challenge projects.
  • Attend student disciplinary meetings and participate in key college calendar events such as Open Days and enrolment.
