EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • An Associates degree is preferred but not required.
  • 48 semester college credit hours or a passing score on the ParaPro Test.
  • 1 year experience in a school, educational, or comparable setting is required.
  • Behavior tech certification is preferred but not required.
  • Complete USBE-sponsored training

Responsibilities

GENERAL PURPOSE

Support wrap around services for secondary students who are at-risk in every category (behavior, academics, attendance, SEL). Communicate with all stakeholders, collect and evaluate data, and run extensive interventions.
The advocate will be hired and assigned to one of three high school locations.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review attendance data on every student daily.
  • Call each student daily on the caseload that is not at school.
  • Meet/check in with each student daily.
  • Ensure students have all necessary materials to be successful and deliver trackers if necessary.
  • Review grades, attendance, behavior, goals, homework, credit recovery, etc. daily.
  • Connect students and parents to teachers/counselors.
  • Complete intervention fidelity checks.
  • Support students daily with their needs in the classroom.
  • Provide social skills instruction if applicable.
  • Track morning data.
  • Weekly home visits as needed.
  • Review weekly the overall success with students.
  • Weekly contact with parents.
  • Facilitate homework night at the school.
  • Attend bi-weekly CTMs with the Behavioral Specialists.
  • Communicate with teachers and obtain homework, missing assignments, etc.
  • Attend monthly data meetings with teachers.
  • Review goals with students on a monthly basis.
  • Complete the quarterly data reports that are required for the program.
  • Attend quarterly celebrations with students.
  • Attend trainings offered at the District.
