The Opportunity
Keyano College Information Technology Services department is currently looking for 2 Student Assistants to start immediately and ending on or before June 30, 2026. As the Student Assistant, you will support various areas of the Information Technology Services (ITS) department at the College. This role is designed to provide a student with broad, hands-on experience across multiple ITS functions. Responsibilities include assisting with inventory and asset management, supporting the development and testing of IT service workflows, and providing walk-in support at the Service Desk. The successful candidate will work alongside ITS team members to ensure services are efficient, documented, and user-friendly.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with identifying, tagging, and labeling technology assets across departments (e.g., computers, AV equipment, printers) and update inventory records in the asset management database (e.g., location, condition, serial numbers).
  • Participate in routine equipment audits, ensuring accuracy using checklists, help prepare surplus or decommissioned assets for recycling or disposal.
  • Support the setup of newly acquired devices by documenting basic information and ensuring assets are logged.
  • Provide input on the improvement of service requests, design and usability of forms from a student/user perspective.
  • Support consistency checks for data entry and workflow processes.
  • Document changes, updates, and procedures related to service catalog and ticketing.
  • Assist walk-in students, staff, and faculty with basic IT support at the Service Desk with troubleshooting, password resets, connectivity problems and escalate when needed.
  • Help update technical documentation or quick-start guides under supervision.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a post secondary program in Computer Science, Information Technology or Business
  • 0–6 months; suitable for Keyano College Student
  • Asset: Experience with customer service, clerical tasks, or working with technology
  • Attention to detail for working with inventory and forms
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer literacy and willingness to learn new software and processes

Compensation and Benefits
CUPE Student Rate - $17.54 per hour plus 4%
