DAS SIND WIR:
A student assistant position is available in the group of Professor Felix B. Engel. The group is highly interdisciplinary and international (6 postdocs, 7 PhDs, 6 technicians). We utilize a large variety of tools such as zebrafish and mouse as model organisms, 3D printing of tissues, hiPSCs, as well as state-of-the-art molecular and cell biology techniques. The Engel group is located in the Translational Research Center of the University Hospital Erlangen. Our laboratory publishes regularly in high profile journals such as Cell Research, Advanced Materials, PNAS, eLife, Development, and Biomaterials.
Die Aufgaben
The task will primarily involve the culture of hiPSC and differentiation of cardiomyocytes.
Background of the project: There is an urgent need for new human predictive pre-clinical disease models.
To overcome these limitations, a primary focus of the lab is to develop a human heart ventricle model.
This will be achieved by 3D-printing myocardium based on hiPSC-derived cardiomyocytes.
Das Know-how dafür
We are seeking a highly motivated student assistant (Masters of Sciences focusing on molecular biology, tissue engineering, or similar) with strong experience in cell culture techniques to support the culture of hiPSCs.
The culture of hiPSC requires every day care. Therefore, this position does involve periodic weekend work.
The position may also include the assistance with other general lab tasks as needed.
Very good English language skills are mandatory.
Zusätzlich von Vorteil
Prior work experience with hiPSCs/hiPSC-cardiomyocytes is desirable.
