The Student Governance team at Birmingham City University is seeking an experienced Casework Coordinator to assist in the day-to-day administration of its busy casework team. The role involves working closely with colleagues within Student Governance and across the wider University to administer the following University procedures:

  • Academic Misconduct
  • Student Disciplinary (Non-Academic)
  • Fitness to Practise
  • Academic Appeals
  • Student Complaints
  • Extenuating Circumstances

There may also be involvement in other areas of Student Governance work as necessary.
This is an exciting role where you will help to ensure the quick and satisfactory resolution of various issues touching on the experience of the University’s students. You must be highly organised, have excellent communication skills and be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple deadlines at once. For this role you will be based in our City Centre campus.
You will have a degree or equivalent professional qualification, or equivalent comparable skills and ability to make decisions and solve problems in a complex environment; assemble, evaluate and analyse information to inform sound judgements; communicate effectively; and adopt a pro-active and self-managing work style. You will have significant experience in a similar administrative role including casework management, preferably within higher education, with the ability to assimilate large quantities of written and verbal communication quickly and produce accurate and timely case summaries. You will have excellent IT skills including MS Office and student information systems or similar, with an understanding of information governance, dealing with sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality in line with data protection principles and legislation.
