The Engineering Career Centre (ECC) connects University of Toronto students with meaningful professional experiences that provide a solid foundation for successful careers and life-long learning. In addition to hosting a wide range of professional development workshops, events and services throughout the year, the ECC team runs a work-integrated learning program that connects engineering students with a wide range of industry opportunities. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Adult Education, Higher Education, Organizational Development or acceptable combination of equivalent experience in Career Coaching, Learning & Development or Student Services.
  • Minimum three years related experience in Career Coaching, Learning & Development, Leadership Development, and/or Student Services.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience advising students on relevant career-related matters.
  • Professional experience developing and facilitating staff and/or student-staff training programs.
  • Experience developing and executing programmatic assessment.
  • Demonstrated ability supporting distressed individuals and establishing safe spaces that encourage open communication.
  • Proven ability to train, mentor, and supervise students in leadership and peer-support roles.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Programs (including Teams, MS Bookings, PPT, MS Forms, Excel and Word) or equivalent systems.
  • Proficient in the use of Learning Management Systems (e.g Moodle, Canvas) and Customer Relationship Management tools (e.g Orbis, Symplicity).
  • Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills, with the proven ability to explain complex processes to a wide range of audiences.
  • Proven ability to organize, prioritize, manage and meet multiple competing deadlines with high flexibility, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the ability to build strong professional relationships and the demonstrated capability to effectively work independently, within a team, and under direction.
  • Proven ability to practice strong professionalism, tact, discretion, initiative, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and work environment.

Responsibilities

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Conducting detailed analysis on program efficiency and student learning outcomes to inform program planning activities.
  • Overseeing and implementing activities that support educational initiatives, including the development of students and peer mentor learning communities.
  • Implementing programming to foster students’ individual career development process.
  • Facilitating educational workshops and seminars.
  • Advising students on career-related matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual’s background.
  • Advising students on how to conduct job searches, cover letter and resume development.
  • Coordinating the recruitment process and training of work-study staff.
  • Liaising with stakeholders to coordinate space and resource requirements.
