Job Description Montgomery College, Germantown Campus, has an immediate need for a part-time Student Employment Services Center Assistant. The work schedule is Monday – Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Flexibility with the daily schedule may be considered based on the needs of the department. This is a bargaining, non-exempt, grade 21 position. For non-exempt positions, you are not eligible to work a secondary job at Montgomery College. Under supervision and/or direction, the Student Employment Services Center Assistant performs office and related services in connection with the operations of the center. The work requires knowledge of office procedures and student needs. The Assistant will create and maintain informational resources, and assist with the use of center resources. Standard practices and specific guidelines are followed to ensure consistency and adherence to guidelines and accuracy. Contacts are with the faculty, students and staff at Montgomery College, other higher education institutions and community organizations. Duties include but are not limited to: Answer student and community member questions, and provide assistance with the Center’s resources including software and other resource materials. Explain and demonstrate the use of available resources at the Center, and/or select and recommend supplementary resources and activities based on individual student needs. Provide directions to identify available services, equipment and materials, as well as refer to other facilities when appropriate. Provide short-term support to students seeking information regarding career, and job search topics. Teach students to access and utilize various computer-based reference materials and websites to research and identify pertinent information and workshops. Create and update instructional materials for workshops and event handouts, and distribute marketing materials Coordinate and host special events for students such as Job Fairs. Schedule and market events, and provide information to representatives on parking, ordering refreshments, reserving space, preparing maps on table placement, and other related logistics. Maintain the Center’s supplies, materials and other learning resources. Perform office duties such as preparing correspondence, scheduling, and answering e-mail and phone inquiries. Required Qualifications: Associate degree in education or a related field. Two years experience in the support of student services and programs. The equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered. Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship Preferred Qualifications: Customer service experience within a diverse population. Two years experience working with computerized career/job search programs. Previous experience with online labor exchange systems. Hiring Range: $23.80-$30.93 annually. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity.
