Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity The Faculty of Arts and Education | Te Pūtahi Mātauranga is seeking an energetic Student Experience Adviser to join the Student Support and Engagement team. In this role, you will help foster a connected and inclusive student community by supporting targeted engagement initiatives, working alongside student leaders, and contributing to larger faculty activities such as orientation programmes that strengthen connection, belonging, and participation in faculty and University life. You will also support student development and engagement through initiatives and services that encourage personal and academic growth. Key aspects of the role include: Seeking opportunities to promote and celebrate student successes. Attending staff/student committees and representing student interests in faculty initiatives. Coordinating student communications, wellbeing initiatives, and engagement activities that strengthen student connection, belonging, and participation in faculty life. Working alongside student leaders and wider faculty teams to support initiatives and programmes that enhance the student experience and foster an inclusive and connected student community. Gathering and reviewing feedback on programme effectiveness, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the faculty and University, and delivering reliable, efficient, and student-focused service. This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent position. The remuneration range is $63,600 - $79,300 depending on skills and experience. He kōrero mōu | About you Our ideal candidate will bring experience supporting engagement initiatives within a tertiary or similar environment and enjoy building positive relationships with students, staff, and student leaders. You will be collaborative, adaptable, and motivated by creating opportunities that strengthen student connection, belonging, and participation in faculty life. To be successful in this role, you will have: A tertiary qualification or equivalent relevant experience. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships. Experience supporting or delivering initiatives that enhance student engagement and community. A student-focused approach, with experience providing high-quality support and service. The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a collaborative environment. An understanding of equity issues in New Zealand.
