Description:

The Student Experience Coordinator is based in the School of Environmental Sciences¿ Student Experience Team and provides high level administrative support for learning and teaching activities to enhance student experience activities. Reporting to the Student Experience Team Leader, and ultimately responsible to the School Head of Operations, you will lead and have line management responsibility for the Assessment and Welfare sub-team (administrative staff ranging from Grade 4 to 5), with a significant proportion of time being spent organising and motivating staff, overseeing the completion of work, and delegating work to team members commensurate with their grade. You will be responsible for co-ordinating operational delivery and ensuring deadlines are met on all aspects of work related to assessment and student progression, including Boards of Examiners and External Examiner liaison, and student welfare provision including Extenuating Circumstances and Attendance and Engagement procedures, and disability support.
This is a busy, varied, important role, and requires attention to detail and an ability to multi-task to ensure that all tasks are completed effectively to the highest of standards. Day-to-day work will be complex and involve cases that will require an excellent working knowledge and understanding of University and School policies, regulations, and ordinances, with an understanding of the implications of making decisions to these guidelines. You will have an ability to present such information in a clear and concise way to a variety of audiences. The role involves regular liaison with other professional services staff and academic staff in Schools within the Faculty and across the University, alongside external contacts. You should be committed to establishing themselves as a recognised point of contact for complex queries across a broad range of services and maintain an extensive network of contacts, acting as an interface between a variety of stakeholders. The role will require contributions to Business Improvement Initiatives, reviewing and revising local policies and processes, sharing best practice with Schools across the Faculty and central departments to ensure optimum efficiency and a consistent approach.
The team works at School level providing support across the two departments; the Department of Earth, Ocean, and Ecological Sciences, and the Department of Geography and Planning. There are two Student Support Offices located in each department. You will be expected to spend time in both Student Support Offices, providing a flexible approach as an important point of contact to users of the Student Experience Team¿s services, ensuring the team and the School present a positive image to users, whilst ensuring opening hours and communication channels suit user¿s requirements. Anticipating consequences of future change and developments is essential in this regard. You will have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and take pride in providing a service that exceeds expectations.
You will have a Degree (or equivalent qualification or relevant professional experience)
