We are seeking a passionate, committed, and motivated individual to join our team as a Student HireAbility Navigator. What You Will Do: As the Student HireAbility Navigator: You will improve access to education, training services, and employment opportunities for job seekers with disabilities who are students in the early phases of preparing for the transition to post-secondary education and employment. By consulting with the local Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) offices in the workforce development area, you will identify the pre-employment transition services available to these students. Additionally, you will develop and coordinate events, campaigns, and other activities to increase and foster: Student and family awareness of and access to pre-employment transition services Employer understanding and awareness of the abilities of students with disabilities, accommodations, and disability etiquette Your role is pivotal in identifying and implementing strategies that will help students with disabilities gain independence and inclusion, employment in competitive integrated workplaces, and successful participation in postsecondary education experiences Duties and Responsibilities Identify, coordinate, and implement strategies for increasing pre-employment services for students with disabilities Develop and sustain relationships that will increase system awareness and access to pre-employment services for students with disabilities Develop a comprehensive three-year action plan in consultation with the Board and the VR offices in the workforce development area, school districts, and other community partners. The three-year action plan will include goals, strategies, deliverables with accountable parties, and timelines for implementation. Develop and/or disseminate information and resources to Workforce Solutions offices, local VR offices, local education agencies, employers, community partners, parents, and students Establish and maintain a working knowledge of contract requirements as it relates to data and documentation, especially regarding compliance with state and federal requirements regarding confidentiality of student data Attend applicable conferences, as indicated by supervisor, to foster connections with community partners Deliver presentations with information about resources in conjunction with conferences, resource fairs, and Expos. Assist with worksite recruitment for VR supported work opportunities Attend meetings, trainings, and other required functions of both CIS-HOT and the funder Maintain a working knowledge of and adherence to CIS-HOT, WIOA and contract policies and procedures What We Look for: Required Qualifications/Skills: Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, related field or equivalent experience Prior experience working with youth Skills in planning, organizing, and coordinating among different partner organizations Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to work independently Strength in soft skills such as networking and interpersonal skills Ability to be a self-starter Ability to function in a diverse job environment Must be able to transport oneself to and from worksites with proof of current liability insurance coverage Must complete and clear a criminal background check Must be available to work outside of normal work hours as needed Preferred Qualifications/Skills: Master's degree in social work or public administration Minimum of two years case management experience Candidates of all degree and academic certification levels are welcome. About Us Communities In Schools of the Heart of Texas (CISHOT) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was founded in 1989 as the McLennan County Youth Collaboration to address the effects of poverty on children and respond to the increasing dropout problem. Based in Waco, Texas, CISHOT's service area extends across McLennan, Hill, Bosque, Falls, Freestone, and Limestone Counties. CISHOT places social services professionals in partner school districts on school campuses to provide academic, behavioral, and social interventions and supports to pre-K-12 students identified as at-risk. CIS then leverages relationships with school administration, local businesses, social service agencies, health care professionals, and parent and volunteer organizations in order to surround students with support, addressing the needs of the whole child. At-risk criteria are based Texas Education Agency standards and is used uniformly across the 8 districts and 26 schools that are served by CISHOT. Nationally, CIS provides services in more than 2,900 schools in 26 states and the District of Columbia, serving 1.7 million young people and their families every year.
