Position Summary
Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) is seeking a dynamic, student-centered professional to serve as Student Involvement Coordinator. This role supports holistic student success by cultivating a vibrant, inclusive, and engaging campus environment through student leadership development, co-curricular programming, and student club and organization support. The coordinator will work collaboratively to empower students, build community, and promote equity, inclusion, and a strong sense of belonging.
Duties & Responsibilities
Student & Programming
- Plan, coordinate, and assess diverse campus-wide events and initiatives and traditions, including Welcome Week, cultural celebrations, wellness activities, and end-of-semester events, etc. as align with SFCC’s mission, vision, values and strategic plan.
- Promote student engagement in collaboration with campus departments, student clubs, and community partners.
- Create opportunities for identity-affirming, inclusive, and culturally responsive programming.
Student Leadership & Development
- Recruit, train, and mentor student leaders, including Student Ambassadors and officers of student clubs and organizations and others as identified by institution.
- Develop and facilitate student leadership workshops and professional development opportunities.
- Support civic engagement initiatives.
Clubs & Organizations Support
- Provide support, guidance and oversight to student clubs, including chartering processes, budgeting, event planning, and leadership transitions.
- Serve as a liaison between students, advisors, and college administration.
- Maintain a current directory and records for active student organizations and prepare reports as requested.
Communications & Outreach
- Promote student life opportunities via email, social media, flyers, and digital signage.
- Maintain a vibrant online presence for Student Engagement, including updating event calendars and managing announcements.
- Conduct outreach to underserved and underrepresented student populations.
Administrative Duties
- Assist with managing budgets for all student engagement activities as assigned.
- Manage event budgets, purchase supplies, and complete required documentation in alignment with college policies.
- Manage updates to student handbook and facilitate overall development, implementation, printing and distribution thereof.
- Provide and maintain semester monthly plan of events and coordinate marketing thereof.
- Track participation, maintain data on student engagement outcomes and co-curricular activities, prepare reports and present data as requested.
- Contribute to departmental planning, recruitment events, assessment, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, professional development and provide input on policy as it relates to student clubs and organizations.
- Assists with Recruitment Activities.
- Serves as a student advocate.
- Coordinates student-centered awards and recognition banquets as requested.
- Assists with administrative functions of PTK (Phi Theta Kappa).
- Serves on committees as assigned.
- Assist with development and implementation of New Student Orientation and other special events as needed by other organizations and departments.
- Develops, implements and manages student activity programs and may assist with substance abuse prevention activities, i.e. tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs.
- Attends conferences and/or meetings at local, state or national levels with student leaders.
- Accurately maintains appropriate student reporting records, files and databases.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- May supervise student employees/ambassadors.

Work Hours
- Typically, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the potential for after-hours and/or weekend work.
Physical Demands
- The role involves intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. Occasionally, lifting of light and heavy objects and climbing ladders may be required.
- The work is performed both in office settings and outdoor environments, sometimes in inclement weather conditions.

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least two years of professional experience in student life, student engagement, or a similar higher education role.
- Demonstrated ability to work with students from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree
- Experience at a community college or Hispanic-Serving Institution.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency.
- Experience with event planning, leadership development, and student advising.
