STUDENT LIFE COUNSELOR (0.4 FTE)

Leiden University College offers a selective honors Bachelor in Liberal Arts and Sciences: Global Challenges to talented students from all over the world. In their first two years of the three-year program, students live on campus in our own college building in The Hague. To support residential and academic life, LUC has a student support system including a Student Life Officer, Resident Assistants, Study Advisors, Academic Advisors, and two Student Life Counselors. We currently have a vacancy for a Student Life Counselor (SLC). We are looking for a qualified psychologist interested in supporting a diverse group of young people.

Responsibilities
  • As a student psychologist, you supervise and treat students individually for short-term targeted counseling. You keep sufficient documentation about student cases according to university standards.
  • You provide short-term psychological help to groups of students with a comparable psychosocial problem that influences study progress.
  • You participate in developing and providing students with workshops and skills trainings relevant to the university context.
  • You maintain contact with support and academic staff at LUC, advise them on the structure of prevention programs and ensure implementation. In complex cases, you take the lead in finding solutions and coordinating with relevant parties and/or with the head of the Student Support Services department.
  • You ensure the accommodation of students with disabilities and other extenuating circumstances in collaboration with Leiden University’s Disability Centre Fenestra.
  • You work together with the Study Advisors and the Student Life Officer and contribute to the training and supervision of the Residential Assistants.
