POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Student Orientation Specialist for the Office of Student Affairs plays a pivotal role in supporting the educational mission of the medical school for MD and PA students. This position supports a wide variety of programs and resources that enhance student experience and development, including career planning & preparation, support for clubs and organizations, advising services, student mentorship & wellness programs, and administrative support for our Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Assistant Dean of Student Affairs. This position provides assistance to all non-curricular aspects of medical school education for PA and MD students including student engagement and wellness activities, major events and milestones such as orientation, the white coat ceremony, Match Day, the graduate awards celebration, and graduation. This position plays an essential role in student advocacy, career support, and overall student services administrative support.
The Student Orientation Specialist is responsible for effective communication across Penn State Health and College of Medicine systems, having an in-depth understanding of student affairs & support services, and working as a collaborative team member with the student affairs team. This position also collaborates with multiple stakeholders including units across Educational Affairs, Photography, Office of Safety, IT, Student Health, Admissions, Alumni Affairs, Facilities, Environmental Health Services, and Senior Leadership. Due to the variability of Leadership & student schedules, this position needs to be familiar with different technologies to effectively communicate and support student affairs on multiple platforms .
MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree
No prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education.
