JOB SUMMARY

The Programs Manager oversees developing and managing SAMU Programs. This departments core values align with cultural recognition, awareness, and sensitivity to the ever-changing diverse spaces within SAMU. This department seeks to enhance student experience through programming and projects aligning with the SAMU Strategic Plan.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant area or equivalent education required
  • Previous experience working in a post-secondary setting is considered an asset
  • Minimum of 3 years management or supervisory experience required

POSITION SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to perform intermediate tasks using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills in diverse settings
  • Proven ability to build relationships in cross-cultural environments
  • Multidisciplinary lens for art, culture, and community
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to organize time and priorities with limited supervision
  • Ability to work independently, and work cooperatively within a team
  • Work flexible hours (potential evenings and weekends)
  • First Aid/CPR - Level C and WHMIS will be considered an asset
Responsibilities

Programming - (70%)

  • Ensure all plans for SAMU Programs are relevant, innovative, and creative, while adhering to SAMU’s Strategic Plan and staying within budget
  • Oversee the management, planning and implementation of all SAMU Programs
  • Develop creative initiatives, activities, and projects highlighting cultural diversity
  • Research and curate Community Podcast concepts and topics.
  • Maintain and curate the SAMU Artworks portfolio.
  • Leads the management of the SRP Local Committee Group by ensuring the programs operations align with the SRP Guidelines, and serve as a liaison between WUSC and SAMU to maintain the ongoing partnership and commitment to Global Education
  • Oversee the SAMU Cares Bursary process and applications
  • When relevant, partnering with MacEwan University departments or initiatives

Operations - (20%)

  • Conduct interviews, hire, train and supervise Programs staff
  • Establish the calendar for all Programs each year
  • Develop a proposal for the annual Programs budget and maintain quarterly financial responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development of strategies and processes.
  • Maintain and review Programs metrics and goals monthly.
