QUALIFICATIONS

  • GCSE maths grade 4 or above
  • GCSE English grade 4 or above
  • Level 3 qualification in a related subject

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of working with young people and adults
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both written and verbal and to a wide range of audiences
  • Suitability to work with children
  • Excellent organisational skills

DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE – (OPTIONAL)

  • Previous experience of working in an FE setting
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a key part of the role, you will provide assertive and proactive personal support to students, helping to ensure high levels of attendance, punctuality, retention, and academic progress. You’ll work closely with teaching teams, support staff, parents, and students themselves to create a supportive environment where every learner can flourish and achieve their personal goals. With responsibility for a specific caseload, you will coach students individually and in groups, setting meaningful targets, implementing timely interventions, and using tools such as eILP (ProMonitor) to track and monitor progress. A core focus will be on identifying and supporting “At Risk” students and closing achievement gaps, actively contributing to positive progression into further education, training, or employment.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Planning and delivery of engaging session focused on the preparation for adulthood framework
  • Offering 1-2-1 and group based pastoral support tailored to individual needs and to support attendance, punctuality and progess of student in all elements of their study programme
  • Work collaboratively with programme leaders, EHCP coordinators, families and external agencies to maintain attendance, retention, achievement and progression
  • Implement strategies to build confidence and self-esteem to develop a growth mindset model
  • Monitoring learner progress, drawing up agreed action plans to support and contribute to review documentation
