POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Supervisor – Landfill Operations is responsible for assisting with tasks and duties related to coordinating, evaluating and monitoring solid waste collection, diversion and disposal operations and programs. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists with coordinating, evaluating and monitoring programs Undertakes research in areas of solid waste management Assists with promotion and education initiatives Assists with performing field audits Data Entry Performs other such related duties as required QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Experience: Must be a secondary school graduate & enrolled in an engineering technology, sustainability or environmental studies related program at a college or university Skills & Abilities: Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Must possess excellent customer service skills Ability to work independently and as a member of a team Proficient in the use of computers and current related software (Word, Excel) Must possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario Drivers Licence, or equivalent Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Will be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation May be required to provide a successful driver’s abstract Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) General Information: As an equal opportunity employer, the City of Thunder Bay encourages applications from Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, members of visible minority groups and women.
