Position Summary: Provides advice and counsels the students. This advice may relate to the student’s personal, academic or professional life. Every college or university has a student advisor who makes programs suitable for a particular student that will guide him in his career. Student advisors may also work independently and offer their customized services to a particular student.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities: · Acts as an advocate and an interdepartmental and interagency liaison · Studies the program needs and then develops and implements the program in compliance with the government and educational policies · Provides a wholesome system of service delivery that is flexible and responsive to needs of the students · Informs students about their rights and responsibilities · Represents the students in disputes with local agencies and college authorities · Monitors the participation and progress of students to ensure program compliance · Creates awareness about program services among the community · By analyzing the requirements of the students, the advisor represents program concerns to the educational institute authorities · Provides group and individual orientations and gives information to new and old students · Assists students with the registration process, filing of other forms and help in financial aid · Other duties as assigned · Regular and reliable attendance   Skills/Competencies/Qualifications: · Bachelor’s degree in Career Management or Social Services · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills     Classification: Non-exempt   Work Hours: Forty hours per week but may vary daily, and evening and weekend hours may be required   Travel: None
Responsibilities
Provides academic, personal, and professional counseling to students while acting as an advocate and liaison between students and authorities. Develops and implements program services in compliance with educational policies to ensure student success.
