POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Student Support/Wellbeing Officer to join our team. This role focuses on providing high-quality support to students throughout their educational journey, with a particular emphasis on student wellbeing, finance, and academic guidance.

• To attend the ‘hot liners’ meeting/regular welfare meetings – to discuss students showing signs or where specific support has been requested.
• To provide follow-up calls for students requiring support.
• To be available to discuss issues with students on request, and support within remit.
• Work closely with Academic Department and Marketing Attendance team in providing support for those with issues affecting their learning.
• Responsible for registration at the time of induction and communication of support available from the College.
• Provide advice and guidance on course options to students, both verbally and in writing.
• Deal with all internal and external queries concerning the progress and status of students.
• Support with student benefits.
• Be aware of student benefits available to current students, including eligibility criteria, application requirements, and methods.
• Communication of benefits available at time of induction.
• To report back on any new initiatives available to students that support or improve their learning experience.
• Provide advice and guidance to applicants.
• Keep track of and organise the Student Council – organise and minute meetings on a regular basis, and update them on new information as instructed.
• Provide the correct application code depending on intake and course.
• Support with correspondence to be sent to Student Finance England and decisions made.
• Collate and file finance decisions and follow up on those that are pending.
• Liaise and take action where student finance has not been awarded.
• Disseminate and co-ordinate the application of additional funds, grants, or bursaries made available by funding colleges.
• Track and follow up on all applications made.
• Issue exemption certificates, depending on circumstances.
• Maintain clear communication with the Operations Manager regarding student finance and actions taken.
• Keep up to date with changes in eligibility and requirements for Student Finance and UCAS.
• Ensure all activities and contact are recorded on the student database.
• Provide general administrative support within the office as required.
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of the College’s policies, including assessment/selection and entry criteria, code of conduct, and disciplinary/appeals policies.
• Support the establishing of good working relationships with all stakeholders.
• Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of service provision, including reviewing and enhancing office systems to ensure a high-quality service is maintained.
• Maintain good working relationships with other teams and departments, enabling mutual understanding and collaboration.
• Participate in all student events and activities, including enrolment, billing, and graduation, as and when required.
