POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Supervisor – Parks Operations (North), the Tour Guide/Small Ride Operator, the Tour Guide/Small Ride Operator is responsible for operating the small amusement rides and accepting payment for all amusement rides. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Opens all buildings in the morning and locks all buildings before leaving at night. Carries out pre-inspection duties of amusement device before operating each day. Operates the amusement device safely without supervision. Loads and unloads passengers to and from amusement device safely. Collects revenues from the sale of amusement ride tickets. Performs and completes daily cash summary forms and transmittal slips. Performs guided tours for schools, groups, and visitors, as scheduled. Feeds animals according to an assigned scheduled, checking and replenishing water supplies and cleaning animal pens as required. Cleans and sweeps out all buildings on a regular basis, including washrooms in chalet, and picks up paper and trash around the museum, cookhouse, and chalet. Maintains good public relations with the users of park. Carries out his or her responsibilities without supervision. Performs other duties as may be assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Experience: Minimum age of 16. Must be honest, courteous, responsible, and enthusiastic. Assets: Strong public relations skills and cash handling experience would be an asset. A certificate in Standard First Aid and CPR would be an asset. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Will be required to work irregular hours, weekends and holidays.
