POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor - Design and Field Engineering, performs general traffic counting and other various traffic engineering activities. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform traffic counts using automated systems and analyze the data for better road and infrastructure planning. Assists with various traffic engineering activities such as programming speed signs and installing pedestrian counters. Assists with traffic data collection, review, analysis and recommendation of solutions for identified traffic problems within the city. Other engineering duties as designed. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Experience: Must be a student during the preceding academic year and be returning to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year. Skills & Abilities: Good communication and organizational skills Must be able to work with minimal supervision Excellent data entry and accuracy skills Must possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class G licence, or equivalent Assets: Civil Engineering background Computer literacy in MS Word and Excel CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Use of personal vehicle may be required.
