Job Details Job Location: 10 - Davenport Campus - Davenport, IA 52803 Student Employment Opportunity: Clinical Sciences Teaching Assistant **This position is for current Palmer College of Chiropractic students only. Function: Teaching assistants (TA) are responsible for assisting the course lead instructor. TAs will assist the lead instructor where psychomotor, interpersonal, and cognitive skills are taught and assessed. TAs are responsible for attending the class at the required time on all days deemed necessary by the lead faculty (or Associate Dean of Clinical Sciences). Organizational Relationship: TAs are responsible to the assigned lead instructor for successful performance of specified duties TAs are responsible to the program coordinator for successful performance of assigned duties General Qualifications Needed to Perform Role: Candidates for a TA position must: have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 to remain employed as a TA be recommended by a Clinical Sciences instructor be endorsed by the Associate Dean Specific Duties and Responsibilities: The TA will model professional demeanor The TA will take direction and carry out instructions and duties according to each course’s lead instructor The TA will participate in practice sessions and practicals, which may include preparation, planning, and grading The TA will accurately record students’ performances and be prepared to discuss student progress with the lead instructor and/or Associate Dean The TA will be prepared for practice sessions in order to teach and assess examination skills and to answer questions posed by students The TA will recognize deficiencies in students’ interpersonal skills and provide offer tangible means of improvement in a constructive fashion The TA will be able to recognize improper or deficient performances of examination procedures and be able to explain and demonstrate proficient and preferred examination skills The TA will be able to assess and provide both summative and formative evaluations of clinical reasoning skills, such as: the students’ abilities to detect findings and to develop patient examination plans the effectiveness and efficiency of the students’ patient examination plans the students’ knowledge of both expected and abnormal patient examination responses the students’ abilities to recognize multiple components contributing to patient symptoms, including physical, neurological, and psychosocial factors the students’ abilities to identify distinguishing historical clues and examination responses to create a differential list and select the most likely diagnos(es) the students’ abilities to formulate an effective management plan for various patient presentations and diagnoses Disclaimer: A student’s length of participation in the Student Employment Program will be from the date of hire until termination either by student, supervisor, or Office of Financial Planning and not to exceed the student’s enrollment at Palmer College of Chiropractic.
Responsibilities
