Job Details Job Location: 20 - Florida Campus - Port Orange, FL 32129 Position Type: Part Time **This position is only available to current Palmer College of Chiropractic students Function: The work-study position is responsible for assuring patron assistance. Organizational Relationship Responsible to the Branch Manager Librarian, Senior Director of Library Services and the Dean of Academic Affairs for successful performance of assigned duties. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Check books/AV/reserve items in and out via automated/manual systems Push in chairs and move furniture back to its original arrangement Pick up books/journals/newspapers/A.V. and place and reshelve in call number order Fill computer printers & copy machines with paper For problems which arise (i.e. equipment malfunction, discipline problems) contact an appropriate library staff member and/or security personnel. Assist in closing and locking the library at the appropriate time and make sure all equipment is properly shut down. Time sheet must be turned in monthly to Branch Manager Librarian. Any projects as assigned Methods of Accountability Through compliance with College policies, procedures, and expectations that include FERPA and HIPPA guidelines. Through communication with and/or from the library staff/faculty/students. Through documentation of library hours worked; work study timesheet. Qualifications Mental and Physical Requirements Ability to stand and bend to perform assigned duties. Must have effective communication skills. Education, Training, and Experience All potential library assistants must undergo an interview process with the Library Branch Manager. Applicants must be in good academic standing Selected library assistants must complete training with library staff on all specific duties and responsibilities. Understanding of FERPA and HIPPA regulations and guidelines. Working Environment and Conditions Performs duties in a ventilated, lighted, and temperature controlled environment.
Responsibilities
The library assistant is responsible for checking in and out library materials, reshelving items, and assisting patrons. Additional duties include maintaining the library environment and reporting issues to staff.
