Title: Spanish Tutor Job Classification: Tutor, Non-Exempt Department Name: Medical Education Supervisor: VIDA Program Director Position Purpose Under the direct supervision of the Director of the Vida Program, the Spanish Tutor will conduct tutoring sessions. Maximum work allowance of twenty (20) hours per a two (2) week period. Videotaping of encounters with students might be recorded and viewed for educational purposes. Essential Functions •    Attend large group sessions to guide incoming M1 students through the new material. •    Act as “attending” physicians during class activities, where new M1s report to them. •    Collaborate in the development of materials, video recording ideas, and overall preparation of learning resources. •    Maintain open communication with the Spanish Tutor team and check e-mails/teams messages regularly for important updates. Required Educational Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences or related field. Skills and Abilities •    Must have strong communication skills while interacting with fellow tutors and students. •    Must have strong interpersonal skills when interacting with others. •    Must have strong reading and writing skills to absorb and use the detailed case training. •    Ability to explain complex Spanish language structure formalities and abnormalities. •    Ability to provide constructive feedback to students. •    Ability to role play a patient-physician interaction from both perspectives and/or act as an interpreter for patient-physician interaction. Preferred Qualifications •    Previous experience in healthcare or related area. •    Excellent academic standing. •    Enrollment as a current student. •    Speak, read, and write clearly in English and Spanish. •    Native Spanish speaker or a minimum of three (3) years high school/college coursework with a minimum grade point of average of 3.0.
