WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You are expected to be well organised, understand research governance, and have experience of operating in a multidisciplinary research group.
  • We are looking for someone with an understanding of the healthcare system who can also operate across the logistical challenges posed by large-scale, patient-facing research e.g. liaising with multiple stakeholders across clinical and organisational governance.
  • This role would be well suited to anyone with a healthcare/nursing background and track record for supporting research studies.

The post is part-time (7 h/w) and a fixed term (12 months) the possibility of an extension. The post is available immediately and will be based within the National Heart and Lung Institute on the White City Campus. Although some hybrid working may be considered, this post is lab based, and you are be expected to be available in person.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is intended to support the day-to-day operations of the Imperial Health Impact Lab. In this role you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary research group working across the implementation science research portfolio operated by the Imperial Health Impact lab.
The team’s mission is to apply a focused implementation science technology towards achieving more high-impact, technology enabled care in the National Health Service. You will be responsible for coordinating aspects of day-to-day activities of Hi Lab’s research programmes. You will liaise with Principal Investigators, data coordinators, and external collaborators to ensure the smooth running of projects and to ensure that projects meet their objectives. More specifically, you will (i) assist with all aspects of study logistics; (ii) support the work of key members to ensure that the project meets its objectives in a timely manner; (iii) oversee and communicate key milestones; (iv) support publicising the work of Hi Lab internally and externally; (v) and organise/support team members in their day-to-day execution of roles.

WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING

In this post, you will be responsible for contributing to the day-to-day operational aspects of Hi Lab projects, including liaising with collaborators and relevant individuals within the department e.g. PIs, data managers, researchers, admin team, HR, finance, communications
You will be responsible for research, collation, organisation and editing material for inclusion in reports/documents, and analysing/reviewing data to support decision making. Communication will be key, and you will be expected to circulate information/findings appropriately to ensure awareness of key issues. Customer service skills will also need to be applied, including for resolving issues/problems/queries independently and providing advice on routine matters to ensure that efficient, day-to-day customer/stakeholder service is delivered; and contribute to and monitor Hi Lab objectives and standards within own area of work to maximise service quality and efficiency.
You will be expected to operate as an individual, organising and planning your own work activities, to contribute to the achievement of Hi Lab’s objectives and maintain and improve efficiency. You will be recognised as the main point of contact for vanguard Hi Lab activities, including the TRICORDER programme. You will additionally assist with all aspects of study set up and coordination; monitor study progress and milestones, and provide regular update reports to key stakeholders; provide administrative project support, e.g., ensuring the timely payment of invoices and expense claims, organising meetings, preparing agendas and taking meeting minutes; and generally communicate effectively with key internal and external stakeholders to publicise Hi Lab’s work.
In terms of your knowledge, you will apply an understanding of the standards and regulations set for Hi Lab’s patient-facing research portfolio; experience of working with specialist software related to study coordination; and often drawing on robust working knowledge of the activities of other areas of the College relevant to faculty/division/department/work unit.
