Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Subcontracts Manager is responsible for the administration and management of all subcontract activities, ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of services and products.
The role involves leading the end-to-end subcontracting process, from pre-award through post-award administration. The Subcontracts Manager works closely with internal teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders to ensure that subcontracts are in compliance with company policies, industry standards, and applicable regulations.

As Subcontracts Manager, you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:

  • Oversee the creation, negotiation and execution of subcontracts in alignment with organisational policies, legal requirements and project needs;
  • Manage post-award subcontract performance against KPIs, timelines, and contractual obligations;
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers/vendors;
  • Advocate for change, provide clarity on expectations, and proactively address performance risks;
  • Conduct risk assessments on subcontractor performance;
  • Work closely with project managers, legal, finance and other departments to ensure the effective integration of subcontracting activities into overall project plans;
  • Lead subcontract negotiations, including terms, conditions, pricing, and delivery schedules;
  • Provide regular status updates to senior management on subcontract performance, risks and issues; and
  • Develop and improve subcontracting processes to enhance efficiency and compliance.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field;
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in subcontract management or procurement, preferably within Defence;
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating and managing subcontracts and vendor relationships;
  • Strong understanding of subcontracting processes, contract law and procurement regulations;
  • Ability to travel internationally and interstate, when required; and
  • Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required)
