The BA (Hons) Game Development programme equips students with creative, technical, and professional skills needed for the games industry, covering theory and practical aspects such as design, 3D modelling, and production pipelines.

The Subject Lead role involves:

  • Creating an engaging, forward-thinking teaching approach that prioritizes student experience, progression, and retention.
  • Leading academic and administrative functions for the gaming programme to align with LCCA’s student-focused vision.
  • Overseeing curriculum design, development, and delivery at Foundation and degree levels, including teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • Providing academic leadership and mentorship to the teaching team.
  • Ensuring quality assurance, resource planning, and collaborative working practices.

  • Experience of teaching & assessment in a Higher Education environment
  • Experience of curriculum design and development and the creation of course materials that support student development
  • Experience of an innovative and inclusive approach to teaching in Higher Education, contributing to student success
  • Experience of leading and managing education (people, curriculum, quality
  • & standards, students, recruitment)
  • Experience of teaching the discipline in a HE environment
  • Evidence of research, knowledge exchange and/ or professional practice contributes to the advancement of the Discipline and is relevant to the goals of the Course, College and Creative Industries as a whole
  • Evidence of using contacts within subject peer group to develop partnerships or collaborations

Responsibilities

KEY ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach a full load across all levels (4-6 essential; L3 & L7 desirable) in your specialist area.
  • Maintain high educational and professional standards in teaching, delivery, and curriculum development.
  • Manage course responsibilities including lesson planning, teaching, assessment, timetabling, resource planning, and administration, working closely with the Course Director.
  • Oversee assessment standardisation, marking, and feedback consistency.
  • Provide academic and pastoral support to students, monitor progress, and maintain records.
  • Keep strong links with industry and professional bodies to stay updated and maintain expertise.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and cross-disciplinary teaching strategies.
  • Use College ICT tools to enhance learning and organisational effectiveness.
  • Engage in research, scholarship, or professional practice relevant to the discipline.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings and examination boards; assist in organising course-related activities.
  • Support and coordinate projects with the Course Director to enrich student experience.
  • Contribute to annual course monitoring and continuous improvement.
  • Manage teaching and assessment programmes, liaising with staff as needed.
  • Support implementation of College policies on teaching, learning, and curriculum development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the College.
  • Fulfil health and safety responsibilities related to the role.
