POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a highly experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join us as a Consultant. This individual will have a career history in distribution and transmission line operations—ideally with progressive experience at the provincial or major utility provider level (e.g., BC Hydro, FortisBC). The ideal candidate will bring hands-on knowledge of outage causation, infrastructure vulnerabilities, restoration practices, and statistical trends, along with experience managing large-scale outage events and coordinating emergency response efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Extensive career experience in distribution and transmission line operations, preferably within British Columbia.
  • Proven track record of escalating through multiple technical and management roles in line operations or system planning.
  • Deep understanding of common outage causes (e.g., weather events, equipment failure, vegetation, human factors) and mitigation methods.
  • Experience coordinating large-scale restoration efforts, including resource mobilization and stakeholder communication.
  • Comfortable engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently with flexible availability.
