ABOUT US

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Charity and Housing Association. The Society of St James (SSJ) has been working in Hampshire for over 40 years, delivering high impact, person-centred, accommodation services to adults and young people experiencing homelessness, problematic substance use and mental health problems. We believe that every person is of worth and we are prepared to take risks to house and support the most vulnerable and socially excluded members of society.

Responsibilities

You will work in the Adult Substance Misuse Community Service at The Recovery Hub in Southsea. You will hold a small caseload and work in a person-centred approach to support individuals who want to make changes to their lives by supporting them to access interventions that are important to them. This may involve an Opiate Substitute prescription and regular monitoring and assertive interventions are important to ensure the safety of the service user and the service as a whole. Good risk management skills are essential, as well as a strong ability to build meaningful relationships with our service users.
You will have the skills to develop and deliver an innovative and dynamic programme of group work using the Behaviour Change Model. You will have the experience and skills necessary to ensure safe and supportive facilitation of groups which aim to support service to make meaningful changes in their lives.
The role will be primarily based at The Recovery Hub in Southsea, but the work will involve visiting clients in other services or in their own homes and working alongside key partner agencies, as well as delivering groups in a variety of settings.
The working hours will be Monday to Friday and will include working a rota of occasional evening work and one Sunday in every 4 weeks to support the facilitation of the Sunday group at the Community Day Rehab.
