Would you like to be a part of an exciting new team offering direct support to families experiencing substance misuse? If so, this could be the role for you.
The Connected Families Service is new to East Sussex and will enable families to access meaningful, targeted and timely support at the earliest opportunity. This role will give the successful candidate the unique opportunity of being part of the service development and roll out across the County.
As a Substance Misuse Practitioner, you will have your own case load of parents/carers and will provide safety planning and intervention directly to parents/carers who have problematic drug and alcohol use. This hands on, collaborative role will involve consultations with parents and carers, as well as regularly working with other practitioners and social work colleagues to effectively deliver evidence-based substance misuse programmes. Plus, where parents require additional assistance with their substance misuse, practitioners will work closely with the local adult drug treatment service.
Applicants will need to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of issues related to adult substance misuse and effective interventions. The successful candidate will be reliable, approachable and be able to quickly build relationships with families during this stressful time in their lives. This role requires strong interpersonal skills and will require you to confidently liaise with a variety of colleagues, including social workers to contribute to their assessments. We encourage those to apply who are innovative and are creative problem solvers.
To apply for this role, please follow the ‘Apply Now’ button above and upload your CV and a Cover Letter. We will be using your Cover Letter to shortlist so please be sure to address how you meet all the criteria in the person specification, drawing on any relevant work/life experience, education, or personal interests.

Interviews will take place in-person at St Mary’s House in Eastbourne on Friday 1 August.
