WHY HARBOR HOUSE Harbor House is a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented residential substance use treatment program committed to compassionate, evidence-based care. We believe recovery is relational, accountability is therapeutic, and dignity matters. ABOUT THE ROLE Under general supervision, the Substance Use Residential Counselor serves as a primary therapeutic partner for residents in treatment. This is a clinical, relationship-centered role focused on counseling, treatment planning, and recovery skill-building — not monitoring or enforcement. HOW YOU SUPPORT RECOVERY • Provide individual, group, family, and crisis counseling using trauma-informed practices • Build trusting therapeutic relationships that promote safety and engagement • Help residents understand trauma, substance use, and behavioral patterns • Collaborate on person-centered treatment plans • Teach coping skills, emotional regulation, and relapse-prevention strategies • Respond to setbacks as clinical information, not failure • Support discharge planning and continuity of care Requirements Required Qualifications: • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Addiction Studies, or related field • Licensed or DMH-credentialed therapist (or eligible) • Minimum one (1) year behavioral health or substance use work experience • Commitment to trauma-informed, recovery-oriented care Preferred Qualifications: • One (1) year of experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, mental health, residential care, or corrections • CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification (or willingness to obtain during onboarding) Lived Experience: • Staff in recovery must have at least one (1) year of sustained recovery WHAT WE OFFER • Mission-driven trauma-informed culture • Clinical supervision and professional growth • Collaborative interdisciplinary team • Meaningful impact on clients’ recovery journeys Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities
