Join our team at ESB Engineering & Major Projects, where we are at the forefront of engineering for ESB’s Transmission & Distribution businesses. We also offer consultancy services in T&D technology for external clients.
As a key part of ESB Engineering & Major Projects, the Transmission and Distribution Delivery department is responsible for designing high voltage transmission and distribution assets for ESB Networks. This includes both conceptual and detailed engineering design, design safety management (Project Supervisor Design Stage), project programming, and commercial management. Collaboration with a range of stakeholders, including Networks Project Delivery and external delivery services, is a crucial aspect of this role.
In this role, you will leverage your significant experience in design and project delivery to manage multi-discipline projects. You will need a strong project management and technical design background, detailed knowledge of internal safety procedures, and excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. You will provide leadership and technical guidance to the design team in all aspects of project conception, including the development of conceptual and planning stage substation layouts, sections, elevations, and 3D substation design. The role also involves design review, contract management, training, development, mentoring, and interfacing with other physical design engineers and clients.

Responsibilities

The role will include the following work:

  • Deliver conceptual and planning stage substation designs to agreed target timelines, including preparing Feasibility Studies and Site Suitability Layouts for future pipeline projects.
  • Develop Design Risk Assessments, Constructability Reviews and Project Risk Registers.
  • Assist in the development of standardised design layouts and standard CAD cells.
  • Manage the overall project deliverables for all stakeholders, coordinating inputs with the relevant stakeholders particularly at Pre TA stage of project development.
  • Develop procedural documents to promote efficiency within our work processes and ensure high-quality delivery across the group.
  • Commercial Management of design time and expenditure on projects, focusing on efficiency and value engineering to maximize the overall project pipeline.
