Xcel Energy is looking to fill an internship role for our Substation & Design department located in Amarillo, TX. Only local candidates in the Amarillo, TX area will be considered. Summary Work with substation engineering and design staff to support high voltage substation design projects, budget estimate creation, and NERC compliance activities. Successful candidate will gain practical engineering experience and have the opportunity to further develop their communication and interpersonal skills. The intern will work part-time (10-20 hours/week) during the academic school year and full-time (40 hours/week) during the summer. Minimum Requirements Must be enrolled in Electrical Engineering Program ABET accredited program Sophomore or Junior classification. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Ability to communicate effectively; both written and verbally Must be self- motivated, have good mechanical aptitude, and ability to work well with others Must be able to work 10-20 hours per week while school is in session and 40 hours per week when school is out of session Preferred Requirements Course work in Power Transmission & Distribution and an interest in the power industry desirable.
