POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Substation Testing & Commissioning Manager to lead and support our Substation Technician team in Anchorage, Alaska. This role involves hands-on field testing as well as project management, client coordination, and administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of substation and generation equipment
  • Manage small to mid-sized projects including estimating, quoting, and direct client communication
  • Oversee and coordinate work for field technicians and support project execution
  • Balance field work with office tasks such as documentation, scheduling, and reporting
  • Identify new project opportunities and support business development efforts

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Associate degree or equivalent (technical school, military training); engineering degree preferred
  • Experience: 10+ years of hands-on experience with high-voltage power systems, relays, controls, or substation apparatus
  • Familiarity with project management, estimating, and direct client interaction
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • NETA or NICET Power Testing certification is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record required
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and self-management
  • Willingness to travel extensively within Alaska, as well as to the Pacific Northwest, Hawaii, and the South Pacific

Preferred Experience with Test Equipment

  • Omicron 356 (or equivalent relay test set)
  • Doble TDR900 & M4100
