Comprehensive Training Provided – You will be equipped with the skills and knowledge needed even if you haven’t worked within a substation before. Our structured training program covers:

  • Fault finding, repairs, and maintenance of high-voltage substation equipment
  • High Voltage Switching
  • High Risk Work Licenses
  • Installation and commissioning of electrical assets
  • Understanding substation secondary systems and diagnostic technique
Responsibilities

THE OPPORTUNITY | COMMENCING IN ROLE – OCTOBER 2025 | NEWCASTLE

As a Substations Technician, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the reliability and safety of our high-voltage infrastructure. You’ll be responsible for the installation, maintenance, fault finding, and commissioning of substation assets across our network. Your technical expertise will ensure our substations operate efficiently and meet performance standards.
Whether responding to system incidents, performing high voltage switching, or supporting major maintenance and construction projects, you’ll be part of a team that values safety, collaboration, and technical excellence.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Perform fault finding, maintenance, installation, and commissioning of substation assets.
  • Develop and maintain technical capabilities for substation construction and repairs.
  • Conduct high voltage switching and provide emergency standby services.
  • Lead safety practices and prepare safe work documentation.
  • Act as Crew Leader when required, ensuring safe and efficient task delivery.
  • Document work progress and issues accurately in corporate systems.
